Description
The laboratory of Human Health (College of Food Science and Engineering, Ocean University of China) mainly focuses on the research of aquatic marine chemistry, marine food intensive processing technology, marine food nutrition, the structure and function of marine biological efficacy factor, and marine functional food development. Since the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", we have chaired/participated in the completion of 12 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National 863 Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program and the International Science and Technology Cooperation programs. At present, there are five projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, one project from the National Science and Technology Support Program, one project from the Marine Nonprofit Industry Special Scientific Research Funds, and four projects from provincial and ministerial level ongoing. We have won five scientific and technological awards above provincial and ministerial level, including one award of National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize. We have more than 200 academic publications, including more than 80 papers SCI/EI indexed and obtained 30 authorized invention patents. We have built close collaborations with Kyoto University, Hokkaido University, Tokai University, University of Massachusetts, Washington State University, University of Ghent,The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Harvard Medical School, Kasetsart University and Washington University School of Medicine.
There are nine staff members in the laboratory including three professors, three associate professors, one professor level senior engineer, one instructorand one laboratory technician. The research group leader, professor Changhu Xue, is the Taishan Scholars distinguished Professor (2006-), and the principal of the ministry of education "Changjiang Scholars and Innovation Team Development plan" innovation team (2012-2014). There are 11 Ph.D. students and 49 master students currently, as well as 40 Ph.D. and more than 100 masters students formally graduated from our laboratory.
