Professor Hang Xiao from Department of Food Science within University of Massachusetts visited our college in this month, andgave us a course of lectures –“Food and Health”. Four themes were covered in the lectures, including “Diet and Cancer Incidence”, “Diet and Cancer Prevention”, “Pharmacokinetics of bioactive compounds” and “Bioavailability of bioactive compounds”. The lectures started on 21st December, and were operated once or twice a week.
The lectures were selected as“Globe Vision Lectures” of Ocean University of China (OUC). Faculties and students from College of Food Science and Engineering, School of Medicine and Pharmaceutics, College of Fisheries within OUC attended. Also some faculties from ZhejiangUniversity and Qingdao University of Technology attended.
Professor Hang Xiao has been selected into “Priority Support Program of Overseas High-level Educational Experts” provided by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the P.R. of China. He also devoted into cancer research cooperation and undergraduate education with our college during his visit. (Article/figure: Dong Ping)
