The Polar Research Centre was established at OUC in 2009. It is committed to becoming a core think tank on national polar law and strategy and a hub for talent of national marine and polar management. It provides authoritative policy consultations and up-to-date analysis on national polar legislation and policy formulation, and produces influential consultancy reports. It endeavors to become an internationally renowned interdisciplinary research center with Chinese characteristics focusing on polar social science research. It is strengthening and expanding cooperation with universities, think tanks, indigenous people and NGOs in polar countries. It serves as an international academic exchange center on polar issues through second-track diplomacy.
