The Center for Korean Studies, established in 2007, is a university-level research institute affiliated to OUC. It is engaged in academic research on Sino-Korean relations, Korean history, culture, politics, economy, language, and literature, facilitates exchanges among experts. It contributes to academic and cultural exchanges between China and the Republic of Korea and to the friendship between the two peoples. Its research areas include the exchanges of maritime culture and the origin of Korean knowledge, colonial memory and cultural exchanges, self-identity of Korean communities in China, the spread of the Korean language through cultural translation. The center has built a “Sejong Academy” and an “Overseas Key Research Base for Korean Studies”.
