Wang Ping won her Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature at Sichuan University in 2007. She is currently an associate professor at the College of Liberal Arts, Journalism and Communication, Ocean University of China. Her research interests include vernacular Chinese movement，intellectual history and Modern Chinese literature.
