On the morning of August 30th, Rodolfo Sabonge, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States, visited OUC. Vice President Liu Yong met with him at the Laoshan Campus.
Liu Yong welcomed Rodolfo Sabonge and introduced the development of OUC and its distinctive strengths. He briefly reviewed OUC’s exchanges and cooperation with the Caribbean region. Liu emphasized that OUC is committed to open education and attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation. In recent years, OUC has actively expanded educational collaboration with the Caribbean region. OUC covers a comprehensive range of subjects, with distinctive features in oceanography and fisheries. Given the abundant marine resources in the Caribbean region, Liu expressed his hope for deepening mutual understanding and practical cooperation between the two sides to achieve mutual benefits and shared development.
Rodolfo Sabonge expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated OUC on its upcoming centennial anniversary. He stated that the Association of Caribbean States places great importance on issues such as marine disaster prevention and mitigation, marine environmental protection, and sea level rise. He looks forward to collaborating with OUC in the control and development of Sargassum and other related fields.
The meeting was attended by relevant directors and faculty representatives, from OUC’s International Office, College of Fisheries and Center for Ocean Carbon Neutrality.
