On May 22, a delegation led by Rector José Maripani Maripani of the University of Magallanes, Chile visited OUC. President Zhang Junfeng met with the guests.

President Zhang extended a warm welcome to Rector Maripani and his delegation. He introduced OUC, and briefly reviewed the exchanges between China and Chile, as well as the collaboration between OUC and the University of Magallanes in marine research. He expressed his hope that the two sides could carry out practical collaboration in fields of common interest such as marine science, fisheries, biodiversity, ecology and climate change.

Rector Maripani spoke highly of OUC’s achievements in marine science and polar research. He pointed out that the University of Magallanes is the closest university to Antarctica, and hoped that the two universities would further strengthen exchanges, give full play to their respective advantages, and achieve win-win outcomes in polar research and other areas.
