On April 19, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Gary Wilson of the University of Waikato led a delegation to OUC. Vice President Liu Yong met with the guests.
Vice President Liu extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced OUC and briefly reviewed its cooperation with partner institutions in New Zealand. He expected that the two sides would further strengthen joint talent cultivation and research in marine science, particularly in polar oceanography, marine geology, and management. He also proposed the establishment of a joint laboratory for polar research.
Prof. Wilson congratulated OUC on its 100th anniversary. He spoke highly of the achievements of OUC in marine science, polar research, and other fields, and agreed with the proposal to jointly establish a laboratory for polar research. He stated that the two universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and expressed his hope to further enhance exchanges for win-win outcomes.
