Deputy Vice-Chancellor Iain Watt of the University of Technology Sydney Visits OUC

On February 23, a delegation led by Mr. Iain Watt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (International) of University of Technology Sydney (UTS), visited Ocean University of China (OUC). President YU Zhigang and Vice-President LIU Yong received the guests, and the two sides engaged in a discussion about strengthening cooperation.




After extending a warm welcome to the delegation, President Yu reviewed OUC’s achievements in recent years such as the building of the west coast campus, and the university’s future plans. He spoke highly of UTS’s talent cultivation and frontier research in big data, artificial intelligence, computer science, and machine learning. He suggested that the two universities could further collaborate in areas such as joint education, so as to boost shared development and friendly exchanges. 


Mr. Iain Watt gave an overview of UTS’s development and its strategic goals, and highlighted a number of research centers in areas of quantum computing, artificial intelligence and big data. He valued OUC as a great partner of UTS, and expressed his expectations for in-depth cooperation in areas of common interest.
