OUC Makes Progress in Methylene-bridged Dimeric Natural Products

Prof. Zhu Weiming’s team from the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ocean University of China, published online a paper entitled “Methylene-bridged dimeric natural products involving one-carbon unit in biosynthesis” in Natural Product Reports. This research was conducted in collaboration with Qingdao Agricultural University.

An increasing number of dimeric compounds has been discovered in studies of natural products, many of which exhibit significantly better biological activity than monomeric compounds, and often have unique biosynthetic mechanisms. The dimerization of natural products has gradually become an effective tool for the research and development of new drugs. Dimeric natural products are now a research focus in such areas as pharmacology, chemistry, and synthetic biology.
