On May 9, Prof. Örjan Gustafsson gave a talk on the topic of “Cryosphere-Climate-Carbon Interactions in the Eurasian Arctic Ocean Shelf-Slope System”, as part of OUC’s “Future Ocean” lecture series. Prof. Gustafsson teaches at Stockholm University, and he is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering.
Prof. Gustafsson shared with the audience his study on the composition, storage and operation of different cryosphere-carbon reservoirs. The study enables a better understand of existing climate systems and helps predict the release of greenhouse gases such as methane. After the talk, he answered questions from the students and faculty.
