OUC Makes Progress in Physiological Adaptation and Distribution Patterns of Shellfish

Prof. Dong Yunwei’s team, under the OUC’s College of Fisheries, has made progress in physiological adaptation and distribution patterns of shellfish, in collaboration with Prof. George Somero of Stanford University. The results were published online in Bioactive Materials, a top journal in the field of biomaterials, under the title of “An integrated, multi-level analysis of thermal effects on intertidal molluscs for understanding species distribution patterns”.

Shellfish, widely distributed in intertidal zones, are the dominant species in intertidal ecosystems around the world and are of great ecological importance. They constitute important model research systems for analyzing the adaptation mechanisms of organisms to the environment and identifying the ecological effects of climate change.
