OUC Student Boxer Qualified for the Olympic Games Again


LI Qian, a member of the boxing team at Ocean University of China, defeated the Kazakhstan champion player when she was representing China at the final of 2016 Asia/Oceania Olympic qualifiers and won the Women's 75kg title, qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. 


The event took place in Qian’an, Hebei province, on April 2, 2016, and a total of 279 men and women boxers from 40 countries and regions competed for nine days for the 30 male quota places across 10 weight categories and six female quota places in three weight divisions.  


At this event, the Men's Boxing Team from China won the quota places in four weight divisions and the Women's Boxing Team are qualified in the 51kg, 60kg and 75kg categories. 


Majored in sports training at OUC, Li Qian is the only student boxer at the qualifiers from a comprehensive university in China.
