WHOI Scientists Visit OUC

Vice President Wu talks with Dr. Anderson

Prof. Wu Lixin, vice president of Ocean University of China (OUC), met with Dr. Donald Anderson and Dr. Yang Jiayan, both of whom are scientists from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), on Jan. 12, 2016 at OUC’s Laoshan campus.

The two sides had a discussion on how to carry out cooperative academic activities between OUC and WHOI, and how to promote joint research programs such as the study of harmful algal blooms (HABs) and marine ecological environment protection.

They also discussed issues concerning the mechanism of inviting WHOI researchers to work at OUC, joint educational programs, as well as the exchange of visiting scientists. Both sides agreed that they need to work together to boost collaboration in more areas.

In addition, the two parties exchanged their views on how to strengthen cooperation with the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM).

Representatives from the Office of Science and Technology Administration, the International Office and the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences were also present at the meeting.
