Prof. Shi Hongda, Dean of the Collage of Engineering at Ocean University of China (OUC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with representatives from the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) on October 19, 2015 during his attendance at the 4th Annual UK-China Energy Dialogue in London.

This year’s Annual Dialogue, which coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping's UK visit, was co-hosted by the National Energy Administration of China and the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) of the United Kingdom. As the only Chinese representative in the field of ocean energy, Prof. Shi Hongda attended the New Source Technology Forum and delivered a keynote presentation in which he gave an overview of China's current ocean energy development.

In the presence of both Mr. Nur Bekri, the administrator of China's National Energy Administration, and Ms. Amber Rudd, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between OUC and EMEC was signed by Prof. Shi Hongda and Mr. Oliver Ragu on behalf of the two sides. Other partner institutions included in the MOU are Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, Qingdao Songling Power Environmental Equipment Co.,Ltd, and the University of Edinburgh.
