OUC Alumnus Wins Nepal's Presidential Honor Award for Excellence in Academic

Dr. Manish Raj PANDEY, a Nepalese student who received his Ph.D. from Ocean University of China (OUC), was awarded the Nepal Vidhya Bhusan Padak (Class A) medal by Dr. Ram Baram Yadav, the president of Nepal, at his office. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education on September 8, 2015 on the occasion of National Education Day and International Literacy Day.


 The Nepal Vidhya Bhusan Padak (Class A) medal is the most prestigious medal in Nepalese academia and the highest honor awarded by the Nepalese president. This honor is granted to those who have attained their Ph.D. and excelled in their academic career at universities both at home and abroad. Vice President Paramananda Jha, Ms Chitra Lekha Yadav from the Ministry of Education, and senior official representatives of the Nepalese government also attended the awards ceremony.


Dr. Manish Raj PANDEY won a CSC scholarship to study at OUC in 2010. In addition to taking Chinese language courses, he further attained his PhD degree in marine biology at the College of Marine Life Science under the guidance of Prof. Zhang Shicui. He focused his research on cytotoxicity assessment, genotoxicity, and toxicological effects of Propoxur and CarbaryI in fish cells and embryos, whilst publishing two SCI research papers, one of which appeared in Toxicology in Vitro (vol. 28 (3), pp. 340-353, 2014). In 2014 Dr. Manish Raj PANDEY returned to Nepal after he received his Ph.D. from OUC.
