OUC Professor Becomes the First Director of National Lab

Prof. Wu Lixin, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who is a physical oceanographer with Ocean University of China (OUC), has been recently appointed by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as the first director of Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology. 


According to an announcement released on July 30, 2015, by the MOST, Prof. Guan Huashi, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, dean of School of Medicine and Pharmacy at OUC, has been appointed as the chairman of the first academic committee of the Lab. Prof. Pan Kehou has also been nominated for the secretory-general of the committee. All the three appointees from OUC will serve for a three-year term.


Jointly established by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shandong Province and Qingdao Municipality in December 2013, Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology is committed to fundamental research and cutting-edge technology development around the national marine development strategy. The Lab aims to build the comprehensive and open international marine science research center and collaborative innovation platform based in Qingdao, serving the whole country and facing the world.
