OUC Professor Elected to Editorial Board of JEM

Prof. Song Weibo, director of the Institute of Evolution & Marine Biodiversity at Ocean University of China (OUC), was recently elected to the editorial board of Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology (JEM).


Prof. Song is one of the five new editorial board members from China. The other four Chinese members are Dr. Miao Wei, a research fellow with the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Lin Xiaofeng from South China Normal University, Dr. Gong Jun, a research fellow with Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Shao Chen from Xi’an Jiaotong University. These five experts respectively represent such five research fields as systematic of protozoa, genomics, taxonomy, ecology, and cytology.


Three of the five members, namely Dr. Lin Xiaofeng, Dr. Gong Jun and Dr. Shao Chen, graduated from Prof. Song’s research team of protozoology at OUC.


As one of the two core journals run by International society of Protistologists (ISOP), the Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology publishes original research on protists, including lower algae and fungi. Articles are published covering all aspects of these organisms, including their behavior, biochemistry, cell biology, chemotherapy, development, ecology, evolution, genetics, and molecule. The journal’s impact factor in 2014 is 2.91.
