University of Alabama Delegation Visits OUC

Prof. Li Huajun, Vice President of the Ocean University of China (OUC), met with Dr. Teresa E. Wise, associate provost of the University of Alabama (UA) for international education and global outreach, and Prof. Bill Wallace, director of the English Language Institute of UA on October 29, 2014 at Laoshan campus to discuss issues concerning cooperation and exchanges in marine-related fields.

University of Alabama is the first overseas university to visit OUC since its 90th anniversary.
“UA is a prestigious university in America that distinguishes itself by marine-related disciplines, with strengths in broader study fields such as business, finance, and management,” Vice President Li said.
The two sides hope to broaden their cooperation. “Many marine-related international organizations and institutions along with OUC have signed the Qingdao Consensus for Future Ocean during our 90th anniversary celebration which was concluded not long ago. I’d like to see more cooperation between UA and OUC,” he added.

“Your visit will surely push forward our common development, given that we’ve already had a shared background in academic disciplines, common interests in greater cooperation, and an existing partnership,” Vice President Li commented.

Dr. Teresa E. Wise echoed Vice President Li, saying that the visit presented a good opportunity to broaden mutual cooperation. She also spoke highly of the achievements of OUC in education and scientific research.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged ideas on such topics as student joint education, short-term exchange programs, and scientific research cooperation.
