Prof. Li Huajun, Vice President of Ocean University of China (OUC) met with Mr. Emilio Fernandez Suarez, director of Campus Do Mar to discuss future cooperation and the potential to establish academic ties between the two sides. The meeting, held on October 26th, serves as an important part of Mr. Suarez’s trip to Qingdao to attend the Global Ocean Summit. Scholars from around the world discussed Marine Science, Technology, and Sustainable Development at this major event hosted during OUC’s 90th anniversary.
Vice President Li welcomed Mr. Suarez and expressed OUC’s interest in establishing cooperative relationships with Campus Do Mar. “By having high-level academic workshops and promoting student exchange, I believe our cooperation can be greatly improved,” he said.
Mr. Suarez congratulated OUC for its 90th anniversary. He said the Global Ocean Summit provided a great opportunity to know more about OUC. “We identified several top-notch universities in China which we would like to establish cooperation with, and OUC is definitely the first on the list,” Mr. Suarez said. He also proposed two focuses for cooperation, namely coastal oceanography and marine ecology. “Through bilateral collaborations with OUC in these two fields, we hope to address challenges in the sustainable development of marine bio resources and the ecological environment,” he said.
