1960.9-1965.7,   studied and graduated from Department ofmarine chemistry, Shandong Institute of Oceanography

1982.2-1984.3, as visiting scholar inUniversity of Waterloo, Canada


3.Career History

1966-1970, took part in national jointresearch program of sea water desalination.

1970-1974, took part in the study ontubular membranes.

1974-1982, as program director, took partin the study on CTA hollow fiber membranes and modules.

1982-1984, as a visiting scholar, finishedtwo programs on charged composite membranes in University of Waterloo, Canada.

1985-1990, as program director, in chargeof “study on RO membranes and modules for brackish water desalination”.(national key task-program on science and technology).

1988-1989, finished one program of nationalfoundation for visiting scholar “study on charged membranes & theirproperties”.

1989-1990,&1992-1994,carried out twonational science foundation programs “ study on the synthesis of TMC and Newtype composite membranes”, and “study  on the role ofmultifunctional amines in polyamide composite membranes and formed membranefunctions”.                

1991-1995, as program director, in chargeof “Research and manufacture of RO composite membranes” (national key task-program on science & technology),

        carried out the study and development on nanofiltration membranes andrelated processes. especially for dye purification & concentration.

        undertook the study on ternary alloy membranes.

1996-Present, has directed two national keytask- programs on science and technology, one of key national naturalfoundation program, and other programs.


4.Research Interests

Membrane science & technology , MembraneSeparation and Water Treatment

The main interests are now on membrane withpreferential adsorption and facilitated transport, membrane with catalysis andreaction, membrane with resources and environment, membrane with clearproduction and reform of traditional industries, as well as forward osmosisetc.


5.RepresentativePublications and Achievements

5.1 Published more than 300 papers;co-edited four books & co. translated one book, as one of the chief editorsin three books of the four; attended internationally organized edition of“Encyclopedia of Life Supporting Systems”; as one of the chief editors forChinese edition of “Handbook of Membrane Separation Technology”.
