Institute of Marine Chemistry, which belongs to the College of Chemistry and ChemicalEngineering, Ocean University of China, was founded in 1991. Thedirector was one of first national teaching masters, Professor Zhang Zheng-Bin.Since 2005, the director is Changjiang Scholar, Professor Yang Gui-Peng.

Over the past 20 years, Institute of Marine Chemistry mainly focuses onmarine interfacechemistry with 4 research scopes:

(1)The ocean liquid - solid interface,including: seawater -sediment, seawater - suspended particle interface.

(2)The ocean seawater - atmosphere interface.

(3)The seawater - river water interface.

(4)The ocean seawater - organisms interface.

Institute of Marine Chemistry has 2 professors (PhD supervisor), 2associate professors, 16 PhD candidates,and 30 Masterdegree candidates. The institute has presidedover or participated in 7 projects including National Science Foundation,International Joint Research Program, Natural Science Foundation of China, “973” program, etc.
