On April 18, a University of Windsor (Canada) delegation led by Vice President of Research Michael Siu and Vice President of International Affairs Diana Kao visited OUC. Vice President Li Weiran of OUC met with the guests in the conference room of Xingyuan Building and the two sides had a meeting to discuss potential cooperation.

On April 17, Director Ole Arve Misund, Vice Director Nalan Koc and Dr. Mats Granskog of the Norwegian Polar Institute visited Ocean University of China (OUC) and had a meeting with representatives from the Key Laboratory of Polar Oceanographic Process and Global Ocean Changes (Key Polar Laboratory) as part of the joint International Cooperation Seminar on North Pole Research.Prof. Wang Jianmin, Treasurer of OUC, also attended the seminar.

On March 27, 2018, the Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) delegation, led by President Linda Gainma and Vice President Preyanuch Kitrungrotcharearn, visited Ocean University of China (OUC) and the two parties signed a cooperative MoU.

Prof. Wu Lixin, Vice President of OUC and a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) upon invitation in the latter half of February, 2018. 　

On January 16, 2018, Ocean University of China’s (OUC) new deep-sea research vessel (H2623) was launched and named at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai. The vessel is a work of craftsmanship and is of great significance to the development of China’s maritime strengths.

On December 14, a University of Arizona (UA) delegation led by the Provost Prof. Andrew Comrie, Prof. Suzanne Panferov, Vice President for Global Affairs, and Prof. Marc Miller, Dean of the Law School, visited OUC.

On November 17th, President Yu Zhigang of Ocean University of China (OUC) met with a delegation from Texas A&M University in OUC’s Xingyuan Building to discuss jointly founding a new research center.

On November 11th, Prof. Kang Dong-Wan, President of Chosun University, led a delegation to Ocean University of China (OUC). President Yu Zhigang of OUC welcomed the guests in the conference facilities in Xingyuan Building and the two parties engaged in discussions about establishing a Confucius Institute at Chosun University and expanding areas of cooperation.

The International Coupled Data Assimilation Symposium, sponsored by OUC’s key laboratory of physical oceanography (under the Ministry of Education) and hosted by Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM), was held at QNLM from the 5th to 8th of November, 2017.

The 13th Chinese Annual Symposium on Marine Drugs and the 2017 International Marine Drug Symposium was held in Qingdao from 5th to 9th November.

At the start of November, President Yu Zhigang of Ocean University of China (OUC) led a two-day delegation to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.

On November 1, 2017, the Sino-Thai Academic Center on Marine and Fishery Sciences, co-founded by Ocean University of China (OUC) and Kasetsart University (KU), held its opening ceremony in Bangkok (Thailand).
