On October 18, upon the 100th anniversary of Ocean University of China (OUC), the delegation of the University of Adelaide (UoA), led by Vice-Chancellor and President Peter Høj, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jessica Gallagher, and Pro Vice-Chancellor Suzanne Le Mire visited OUC.

At the annual joint meeting of the International Society of Protistology (ISOP) recently held in Seattle, U.S., Sina Adl, President of ISOP, announced the winner of this year's Hutner Award. Prof. Gao Shan, a member from the Protozoology team at the Institute of Marine Biodiversity and Evolution of OUC, was honored the 2024 Hutner Award for her outstanding contributions to the field of ciliate epigenetics.

On August 11, alumnus Li Qian, a graduate of Sports Training from class of 2017, clinched Team China’s 39th gold medal in the women’s boxing 75kg final at the Paris Olympics, defeating Panama’s Belon.

From July 13th to 19th, a delegation led by President Zhang Junfeng visited University of Tasmania, University of Adelaide in Australia and University of Canterbury in New Zealand, with an aim to deepen cooperation between OUC and the universities. The National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Award Conference, and the general assembly of the CAS and CAE members were held in Beijing on June 24. President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech after presenting the awards. OUC won two second prizes in the 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Awards, with one project as the team leader and the other as a team member.

On June 14, President Zhang Junfeng attended the “Looking into the Future: New Zealand-China High-level Education Forum” in Auckland, New Zealand.
