The President Forum on Higher Education for Sustainable Ocean: Global Partnership and Networks, hosted by Ocean University of China (OUC) was held on October 24, 2014.

Ocean University of China (OUC) unveiled the Sino-Australian Joint Research Centre for Ocean Engineering and signed the Joint Agreement for Cooperation during the opening ceremony at OUC on October 13, 2014.

The 4th Australia - China Ocean Science & Technology Symposium was held at the Academic Exchange Center at Yushan Campus of Ocean University of China (OUC) from September 27 to 28.

A delegation of 10 led by Prof. Dong Shuanglin, vice president of Ocean University of China (OUC), visited the University of East Anglia (UEA) at its invitation to attend the OUC-UEA Symposium on Environmental and Marine Sciences from September 4th to 5th.

The project named “Academic System Building for Korean Studies in China from the Perspective of East Asian Cross-culture” which was submitted by the Center for Korean Studies at Ocean University of China (OUC) has successfully obtained the funding for the second-stage from the Strategic Research in Korean Studies (SIKS) under the South Korean Ministry of Education.

A delegation of four led by OUC’s Vice President Li Huajun spent two days at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in early August for the annual conference of the Confucius Institute(CI).　

The Key Laboratory of Marine Chemistry Theory and Technology, Ministry of Education (MCTL) published the results of a collaborative study titled “Fumigant Methyl Iodide Can Methylate Inorganic Mercury Species in Natural Waters” in Nature Communications.

Doctor CHEN Xianyao, professor of POL’s “Zhufeng Scholars Program”, published his new research work titled Vary Planetary Heat Sink Led to Global-Warming Slowdown and Acceleration in Science, with Prof. Ka-Kit Tung from the Washington University in the United States as the co-author on August 22.

Professor Lee Ki-Su, former President of Korean University and Chairman of the Sentencing Committee of the Supreme Court of South Korea, visited Ocean University of China (OUC) on June 11, 2014.

The book entitled Chinese Communicating Interculturally was published by Digital Press in America in June, 2014. It is co-authored by Prof. Li Mengyu from the College of Literature and Journalism at Ocean University of China ( OUC ) and Prof. Michael H. Prosser, founder of the discipline of intercultural communication and professor at the University of Virginia ( UVA ).
