On September 21, a delegation led by Edvard Yunusovich, Rector of Kazan State Power Engineering University, and Ilshat Gabdelfartovich, Rector of Kazan State Agrarian University, visited Ocean University of China (OUC). President Zhang Junfeng met with the delegation at the Laoshan Campus.
President Zhang extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era has continued to develop at a high level, producing fruitful results across a wide range of fields. The China-Russia Years of Education in 2026 and 2027 offer valuable opportunities for universities in both countries to deepen educational cooperation and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges. OUC has strong foundations in marine energy, aquaculture, and environmental science, which complement the disciplinary strengths of Russian universities in energy engineering and modern agriculture. The two sides have broad prospects for inter-university cooperation in interdisciplinary areas such as renewable energy development, biological resource utilization, and information technology applications. As a Chinese member institution of the China-Russia University of Advanced Technologies (CRUTech) Consortium, OUC also looks forward to using this multilateral platform to expand substantive cooperation with its Russian partners.
Edvard Yunusovich and Ilshat Gabdelfartovich thanked OUC for its warm hospitality. They outlined the profiles and distinctive academic strengths of their respective universities, Kazan State Power Engineering University and Kazan State Agrarian University. Both rectors expressed the hope that the visit would help deepen mutual understanding and establish friendly relations, and that the two sides would pursue substantive cooperation in areas of mutual interest and move forward with faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and joint education and training programs.
The visit resulted in preliminary understandings on cooperation. Building on the opportunities created by the China-Russia Years of Education and the development of the CRUTech Consortium, it strengthened OUC’s ties with universities in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, while laying a foundation for substantive educational cooperation between the two sides.
