Chairman Li Ming Led a Delegation to Hong Kong and Macao

From May 12 to 15, Li Ming, Chairman of the Ocean University of China (OUC) Council, led a delegation to Hong Kong and Macao. During the visit, the delegation visited government departments, universities, research institutes, and community organizations in the two special administrative regions, aiming to deepen OUC’s exchanges and cooperation with partners in Hong Kong and Macao. The delegation also met with OUC alumni representatives.



At the Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the delegation held discussions with Hao Yinxing, Executive President of the Institute, and actively explored cooperation in areas such as marine science and artificial intelligence, and marine biomedicine.



At The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the delegation visited the Ocean Research Facility of HKUST and held discussions with Provost Guo Yike and Vice President Cheng Kwang Ting. The two sides reached a consensus on further strengthening inter-university cooperation, especially in areas such as “AI + Ocean” and the joint cultivation of innovative talent.




At City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Health and held discussions with Vice President Shum Ho Cheung. The two sides agreed to further expand cooperation in talent cultivation, collaborative innovation, and research outcome translation in areas such as marine environment and ecology, as well as the marine economy, by leveraging innovation platforms in Qingdao, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and other cities.


 

During the visit to Hong Kong, the delegation also visited the Federation of HK Shandong Community Organizations and held talks with Zhu Xinsheng, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and President of the Federation. The delegation also visited the Hong Kong Tsing Tao Association and held discussions with its president, Dong Ruiting, and OUC alumni representatives working and studying in Hong Kong. Li Ming encouraged the alumni to leverage their strengths, pool their efforts, and make greater contributions to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.



At the University of Macau (UM), the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City and held discussions with Rector Song Yonghua. The two sides explored ways to further strengthen educational exchanges and deepen cooperation in areas such as marine science, the “Blue Pharmacy” initiative, and smart cities.



At Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the delegation visited the National Observation and Research Station of Coastal Ecological Environments in Macao and held discussions with Vice Chancellor Zhu Jiankang. The two sides reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation in areas such as biomedicine, coastal environment protection, and deep-sea and space exploration.



The delegation held discussions with Vice-Chairwoman Kong Fanqing of the University Council of the City University of Macau, to promote practical cooperation between the two universities. The delegation also met with OUC alumni representatives in Macao. 


During the visit, the delegation also paid visits to the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R. and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R.
