On December 13, the Ocean, Medicine, Synthesis–International Forum on Frontier Interdisciplinary Science was held in Qingdao. The forum aimed to promote interdisciplinary integration between marine pharmaceutical R&D and synthetic chemistry, focusing on cutting-edge technological breakthroughs and translational applications, and to build an international platform for academic exchange and scientific and technological cooperation.

Professor Zhang Junfeng, President of Ocean University of China (OUC), extended a warm welcome to the participating experts and briefly introduced the university’s recent development. He noted that OUC has achieved fruitful research outcomes that help overcome technical bottlenecks in green synthesis for biopharmaceuticals and contribute to promoting global innovation in marine pharmaceuticals. He expressed the hope that participating experts would focus on the latest progress and future trends in related fields, further strengthen interdisciplinary integration, jointly advance international cooperation and exchange in chemistry, medicine, and marine science, contribute scientific and technological strength to global ocean governance, and open up broader prospects for human health and well-being.
The forum brought together experts and scholars from countries such as the United States, Switzerland, Singapore, and China to discuss frontier breakthroughs in synthetic chemistry and translational applications of medicine. Through interdisciplinary integration, the forum promoted innovative development and international cooperation in the field of marine biomedicine. The forum fully showcased the strong momentum at the forefront of international scientific and technological innovation and in the interdisciplinary bio-medicine field, and is of great significance for advancing disciplinary development and related industries.
