The Inaugural Meeting of the First Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering Convened in Dalian


On March 30, the Inaugural Meeting of the First Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, co-established by Dalian University of Technology, Ocean University of China, and China Three Gorges Corporation, was held in Dalian.


Academician Jia Zhenyuan, President of Dalian University of Technology, presented letters of appointment to the newly appointed members of the Academic Committee. He stated that Dalian University of Technology will earnestly implement the standards and requirements for the development of state key laboratories, actively advance institutional and mechanism reform, and provide strong support for the laboratory’s development, working together with all parties to make its due contribution to building China into a world leader in science and technology.


Prof. Wang Houjie, Vice President of OUC, pointed out that the three institutions will give full play to their complementary advantages, deepen the integration of science and education and the synergy between industry and education, and work together to make marine science and technology breakthroughs. The co-establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering is an innovative practice for higher education institutions to work with central SOEs to solve scientific problems, making contributions to building China into a strong maritime country. 


Senior Engineer Jin Heping, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee, noted that China Three Gorges Corporation will actively fulfil its responsibilities as the leader of the offshore wind power industrial chain, provide broad application scenarios for the transformation of the laboratory’s scientific and technological achievements, and contribute its strength to advancing the building of a strong maritime country and achieving national strategies such as the “Dual-carbon” goals.


Academician Li Huajun, Chairman of the Academic Committee, presided over the session on the laboratory’s work report and its review. Professor Ning Dezhi, Director of the laboratory, delivered the laboratory’s annual work report and its 2025–2035 strategic development plan. Chief Engineer Lin Yifeng of Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute, an affiliate of China Three Gorges Corporation, gave a report on the development of the Corporation’s marine energy industry. 


The experts attending the meeting fully recognized the remarkable progress made by the laboratory in terms of scientific research output, team building, talent training, platform development, international cooperation, and operation and management. They also carried out in-depth discussions on the laboratory’s future development and put forward valuable suggestions.
