On September 16, a delegation from the University of Adelaide, headed by Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), visited Ocean University of China (OUC).

Vice President Liu Yong extended a warm welcome to Professor Gallagher and her delegation, reviewing the history of collaboration between OUC and the University of Adelaide and the remarkable results achieved. He noted that OUC remains committed to global engagement and to expanding partnerships with universities around the world. As one of OUC’s most important partners, the University of Adelaide has worked closely with OUC in jointly establishing Haide College. Over the course of a full academic cycle, the joint education institution has continuously improved the quality of its education and student training, becoming a model for OUC’s high-level international education cooperation and earning wide recognition from faculty, students, parents, and the broader community. Liu expressed hope that this visit would serve as a new starting point for further deepening strategic cooperation and achieving more substantial results in international talent cultivation, academic exchange, and collaborative research.
Professor Gallagher expressed her sincere appreciation for OUC’s warm hospitality. She emphasized that the University of Adelaide attaches great importance to its partnership with OUC. Over the five years since the establishment of Haide College, the two universities have drawn on the educational strengths of both China and Australia to achieve strong results and nurture a cohort of outstanding students. She expressed the hope that the two sides would continue to enhance collaboration across multiple fields, attract more high-caliber faculty and students, strengthen joint innovation, and promote the sustainable development of the joint institution. Gallagher added that the University of Adelaide is currently undergoing a major institutional merger and transformation, and looks forward to taking this opportunity to further deepen strategic cooperation with OUC and jointly address global challenges.
