On May 22, a delegation led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdul Malik and Pro-Vice Chancellor Illahi Bakhsh from Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Pakistan (LUAWMS) visited OUC. Vice President Liu Yong met with the guests, and the two parties engaged in a discussion on deepening cooperation in marine science and aquaculture.

Vice President Liu Yong extended a warm welcome to Vice Chancellor Malik and his delegation. He noted that OUC ranks among the world’s top universities in marine science, fisheries and other related disciplines. OUC has forged partnerships with over 300 universities and institutes in more than 50 countries and regions, actively building a global network of collaboration and innovation for marine research and education. As close neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, China and Pakistan enjoy a longstanding friendship. The renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen mutual understanding, further enhance exchanges in areas such as marine talent cultivation and collaborative research, and advance win-win cooperation and shared development, thereby contributing to the building of China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Vice Chancellor Malik expressed his thanks for the warm reception. He introduced LUAWMS, noting that Pakistan places great importance on the development of marine and aquaculture industries. He highlighted the value of collaboration with Chinese universities and research institutions. His visit aims to explore cooperation with OUC in areas such as marine aquaculture, marine resource development, and marine microbiology. Prof. Malik also expressed his hope to send more students to OUC for advanced studies to enhance Pakistan’s marine management capabilities, and advance collaboration in the marine sector between the two countries.

During the meeting, Vice President Liu Yong and Vice Chancellor Malik renewed the Memorandum of Understanding between OUC and LUAWMS.
