Introduction
Since its establishment in 1924, OUC has devoted itself to the exploration, development and protection of the ocean as well as the training of talented personnel with high quality, so as to build a strong marine-based country, and to enhance the harmonious coexistence between mankind and ocean and the sustainable development through opening up the university to the outside world and strengthening international cooperation.
MSO’s scientific team is proud to have raised interest from the international scientific community and have engaged a most promising dialogue with many oceanographic and marine science organizations which will finally materialize in a wide and consistent network of scientific partners.
Sharing the same spirit of willingness in leveraging science to a higher magnitude, OUC and MSO have agreed on a best-efforts basis, on establishing a sound work plan and timeline to support this common endeavour.
Since 2023, OUC and MSO have been collaborating in the building of the first SeaOrbiter Vessel and the development of its future scientific missions. Fruitful commitments and progress have been made with the joint efforts of both sides.
Taking the opportunity of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Nice, France, we are delighted to invite scientists and international cooperative partners to join us in the OUC-MSO Beyond the Deep Blue Academy, as an off-site event of the UNOC3, which will be held on the 7th June. Gathering our common academic and research networks, we hope to build a robust mission plan for our first vessel as an important feature in our common strategy. It will be another significant step towards our cooperation efforts and will consolidate even more strongly our current discussions. We are anticipating exciting talks related to the SeaOrbiter Scientific Project from both France and China, as well as other countries.
