Ocean University of China (OUC) publishes high quality journals in marine sciences. To enhance the global influence of our publications, create a top-tier academic exchange platform, and realize the vision of establishing leading domestic and international journals, we are seeking young editorial board members worldwide. We cordially invite outstanding young scholars in relevant fields to join us.
Currently, OUC publishes seven academic journals focusing on its dominant marine disciplines (http://xuebao.ouc.edu.cn/main.htm). Periodical of Ocean University of China is a core journal of CSCD as well as that of the Peking University Library. Journal of Ocean University of China (Social Sciences) is a core journal of RCCSE and AMI. Journal of Ocean University of China is indexed by SCIE, and is classified as a Q3 journal in the JCR Oceanography category. Marine Life Science & Technology is indexed by SCIE, and is a Q1 journal in the JCR Marine & Freshwater Biology category. Geosystems and Geoenvironment is now included in the Scopus database. Intelligent Marine Technology and Systems focuses on the exchange the latest discoveries from global artificial intelligence in marine technology and systems. Marine Development focuses on interdisciplinary research in humanities and social sciences related to marine issues.
1 Qualifications
(1) With an academic background in a discipline corresponding to the subject scope of each journal and a doctoral degree for more than 2 years (inclusive) or a senior professional designation.
(2) Published more than 2 high-level and high-impact papers in leading domestic or internal journals in the past 3 years as the first or corresponding author or led provincial-level or above scientific research projects.
(3) Active in the frontline of scientific research, rigorous in scholarship, and have a positive academic attitude; passionate about journal work, willing to contribute ideas and suggestions for the development and promotion of journals; ability to write, organize, and review manuscripts for journals. Priority will be given to those who have participated in work related to OUC journals.
(4) Under 45 years of age; preferential consideration will be given to those with experience as a journal editorial board member or reviewer.
2 Number of Recruits
Each journal will recruit no more than 30 young editorial board members (Marine Life Science & Technology will not recruit young editorial board members this time).
3 Benefits
(1) Certificate of membership from the journal’s editorial board for a two-year term, renewable upon passing the assessment; priority promotion to editorial board members for exceptional performance or consecutive two-term appointments.
(2) Priority publication of papers authored or recommended by young editorial members upon acceptable after successful peer review.
(3) Member information showcased on the journal website, and their research work highlighted on the journal’s publicity platform.
(4) Outstanding Member of the Year award based on their exceptional performance in paper submission, commissioning, and reviewing, as well as journal promotion.
(5) Opportunities to participate in academic activities hosted or co-organized by the journal, serving as guest editors to commission papers on special topics, and utilizing the journal platform for communication and collaboration with renowned experts and scholars.
4 Responsibilities
(1) Submit and commission high-level papers to enhance the academic impact of the journal; publish at least one high-quality paper as the first author for the journal annually; highly encouraged to commission high-quality papers or organize special issues/columns.
(2) Actively engage in journal review activities.
(3) Promote the journal and its papers in academic conferences, workshops, and social media; encourage scholars to submit top-notch papers to the journal.
(4) Attend the journal’s subject editor work meetings and assist in hosting or co-organizing relevant academic conferences.
(5) Undertake other tasks that help boost the journal’s impact.

(2) Submission deadline: April 15, 2024
(3) Selection procedure: Initial resume review → Editorial Board selection → Confirmation and announcement → Issuance of membership certificate
Following the application deadline, candidates will be selected based on the journal’s characteristics and a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant’s research area, academic expertise, and regional representation. The list of selected candidates will be announced on the official WeChat account of each journal.
