From September 11th to 14th, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the inauguration of Prof. David Maguire, UEA’s new president, Prof. Gao Huiwang, Director of the Sino-British Joint Research Center and Dean of Chongben Honors College at Ocean University of China, led a delegation to UEA. Prof. Gao presented a congratulatory letter from President Yu Zhigang to President David Maguire and extended warm congratulations and sincere greetings on behalf of Ocean University of China.
On September 12th, the 8th UEA-OUC Symposium was held at the UEA. President David Maguire attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. President Maguire extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed his sincere gratitude to OUC for joining in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of UEA. He reviewed the latest developments in personnel exchange, student development, and research cooperation between the two universities, and expressed hopes for exploring more possibilities for future cooperation.
Prof. Gao Huiwang mentioned in his speech that through more than ten years of cooperation, the two sides have established a deep and solid friendship. More than 30 undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the joint programs have been an important link connecting the two sides, and the growth and progress of the students are the greatest achievements of this partnership.
More than 40 scholars participated in the symposium and had in-depth discussions on topics such as climate change, biogeochemical cycling, marine microbial ecology, and sea ice dynamics.
