Prof. Li Qi, Director of the Research Center for Shandong-ASEAN Exchanges and Cooperation, Led a Delegation to Partner Universities and Enterprises in Vietnam and Thailand

From September 3 to 9, 2023, Prof. Li Qi, Director of Research Center for Shandong-ASEAN Exchanges and Cooperation and Dean of the College of Fisheries of Ocean University of China, and Prof. Li Jingyu, Deputy Director of the Center, visited partner universities and enterprises in Vietnam and Thailand. The visit aimed at further strengthening cooperation with ASEAN countries in talent joint training, scientific and technological innovation, and industrial coordinated development in the field of fisheries, expanding cooperation partners, exploring new modes of cooperation and deepening cooperative relations.



The delegation visited the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and held talks with Deputy Consul General Xu Zhou. It also visited the Vietnamese branches of leading Chinese fishery enterprises active in Southeast Asia, such as Guangdong Haida Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Evergreen Conglomerate Co., Ltd., New Hope Group Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Vland Biotech Co., Ltd., and had discussions with the company leaders. During their stay in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Prof. Li Qi and his delegation visited Nha Trang University and had discussions with Associate Professor Le Minh Hoang, Dean of the Fisheries College. Nha Trang University, established in 1959, ranks among the top in Vietnam in the academic field of fisheries. The two sides discussed possibilities of cooperation such as joint academic conferences, short-term visits, and student exchange.


During its visit to Thailand, the delegation visited Kasetsart University and met with Assistant President Chamaipak Maiklad, who spoke highly of the OUC-KU double degree program and expressed his thanks to OUC for its support to international students during the pandemic. He expected to see more in-depth exchanges between the two sides. The delegation visited the headquarters of the Network of Aquaculture Centers in Asia Pacific (NACA) in Thailand. Dr. Huang Jie, Director General of NACA gave an introduction to the history, goals, tasks, organizational structure, activities, influence, and vision of the network, providing excellent cases, experiences, and suggestions for OUC's cooperation with ASEAN in aquaculture. The delegation also visited Burapha University, and signed an MoU for a double master's degree program between the two universities.
