Recently, the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) announced that the Climate Variability and Predictability Programme (CLIVAR) has officially established its International CLIVAR Project Office (ICPO) at OUC.
As one of the four core projects of WCRP, the most authoritative scientific program worldwide in the field of climate change, CLIVAR aims to improve the understanding and prediction of ocean-atmosphere interactions and of climate variability for the sustainable development of human society and the environment.
Since 2014, ICPO has been in exchange and cooperation with China. It is now hosted by the Frontier Science Center of Deep Ocean Multispheres and Earth System, OUC. Based on the existing international cooperation resources, the Center will further promote the participation of Chinese scientists in global climate variability and change research with strong scientific and technological capacity, and contribute China’s vision to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
