Seven students and faculty members of OUC participated in China’s 38th Antarctic expedition. At the end of April, they completed their research mission and returned.
The 174-day expedition started on November 5, 2021 and covered a total of 33,000 nautical miles. Xuelong and Xuelong 2, China’s icebreakers, set off from Shanghai. The scientific venture involved a range of tasks, including the replenishment of supplies and staff rotation at China’s Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station, as well as near-shore observations and investigations on marine ecosystems.
