Ukrainian universities Vice Presidents visit OUC


On December 5, OUC Vice President Chen Rui met with Prof. Martynyuk Victor Semenovich, Vice President of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, and Prof. Dmytryshyn Dmitry, Vice President of Odessa National Polytechnic University, in the First Meeting Room of Laoshan Library. Present at the meeting were leaders from the Western Returned Scholars Association, China Overseas Students Association, Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Human Resource and Social Security, and Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs.


Chen Rui expressed his welcome to the Vice Presidents of the Ukrainian universities, then briefed OUC history, strength and number of faculty and students. He said that universities of both China and Ukraine have seen increasing cooperation, more frequent students exchange and more Ukrainian students in China in recent years. OUC is similar in discipline setup to Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev and Odessa National Polytechnic University, best comprehensive university and best science and engineering university in Ukraine. OUC hopes to cooperate with them in joint researches, students exchanges and mutual visits of the faculty.


As the Ukrainian center of education, science and culture well known in Europe and the world, both Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev and Odessa National Polytechnic University are the most important educational institutions in Ukraine, according to Ji Min, Director of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Human Resource and Social Security and Deputy Director of the Municipal Organization Department. Ji also said that with many high-level researchers,Ocean University of China is one of the national key universities in the list of Project 985 (for China’s top 40 universities) and Project 211 (for China’s top 100 universities). He hoped that this meeting could enhance the understanding among the three universities, sharing a lot in discipline setup and research focuses, and help them to find out the common interests for better cooperation. 


The Vice Presidents of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev and Odessa National Polytechnic University introduced their schools respectively and exchanged ideas with the OUC delegates on research areas that interest both parties. The Ukrainian delegation visited Laoshan Library after the meeting.
