Vice President of University of Oviedo Visits OUC


Vice President Li Huajun of Ocean University of China (OUC) welcomed Vice-President Covadonga Betegon of University of Oviedo at Laoshan Campus on Dec. 10, 2015. The visiting Spanish guests came to seek possibilities of cooperation with OUC in faculty and student exchanges and joint educational programs. 


Vice President Li extended warm welcome to Vice President Covadonga Betegon, and gave an overview of OUC. He said that OUC attaches great importance to the international cooperation and exchanges with such institution as University of Oviedo, which is a comprehensive university with a long history, adding that the two universities have a big potential in cooperation. 


Vice President Covadonga Betegon gave a brief introduction to University of Oviedo, saying that the university has established cooperative relations with many institutions of higher learning in China including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Shandong University (Weihai). 


“We have already established a good collaboration in faculty and student exchanges with these universities. We hope our current visit to OUC can help us enhance the mutual understanding and find commonalities for cooperation, ” she said.


At the meeting, Mr. Humberto, the director of International Office at University of Oviedo briefed the participants on the colleges and departments, education and research of their university. Heads College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, College of Marine Life, School of Medicine and Pharmacy and College of Foreign Languages also respectively introduced their colleges, which was followed by a discussion on the areas where both sides can work together.


Representatives from University of Oviedo’s China Office and representatives of OUC’s international office,  also attended the meeting. 


The University of Oviedo (Spanish: Universidad de Oviedo) is a public university in Asturias, a historical coastal city in North Spain. It has 10 colleges, 35 departments, 26 research centers and 57 specialties, including Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering Social Sciences and Law, Humanities.
