Professor Li Huajun, vice president of Ocean University of China (OUC), met with a delegation from University of Namibia led by Professor Osmund Mwandemele, pro-vice-chancellor of University of Namibia on June 16, 2015 at the Yushan campus. They exchanged views on how to take concrete actions to implement the cooperative agreement between the two institutions, especially the possible solutions to some major problems faced by University of Namibia in the water recirculation system at their mariculture facilities.
Vice President Li said OUC welcomes both undergraduate and graduate students from University of Namibia to study here in Qingdao. “I hope our mutual cooperation will be further deepened and broadened,” he added.
Professor Osmund Mwandemele gave an overview of University of Namibia as well as the country of Namibia in southern Africa. He said University of Namibia plans to send two or three students to come over to Qingdao for their master or doctoral degrees here at OUC in such strong areas as aquaculture, oceanography and marine engineering. He said he would also like to invite some of the OUC aquaculture experts to come to Namibia and help them solve the problems regarding the water recirculation system.
