Delegation from Dalhousie University Visits OUC


Prof. Li Huajun, vice president of the Ocean University of China (OUC),met with a delegation from Dalhousie University on June 11, 2015, at the Laoshan Campus. Both sides discussed how to expand cooperation between the two institutions.

 

Prof. Li Huajun gave an overview of OUC to the guests during his welcome speech. He said that OUC and Dalhousie have been cooperating for many years, yielding fruitful results. Dalhousie University is a prominent university in Canada that provides a high quality education.

 

“OUC is willing to enhance the cooperation in student exchanges, joint scientific research, as well as commercialization of scientific achievements,” said Vice President Li, adding that both sides can promote cooperation by increasing contacts between scientists and professors, hosting symposiums and workshops together, and establishing joint research centers.

 

Dr. Martha Crago, vice president for research at Dalhousie University, said Dalhousie attaches great importance to academic and teaching quality, which has been unanimously recognized by scholars, experts, and students from home and abroad.

 

“Dalhousie values the multi-domain cooperation and exchanges with OUC. Our current visit aims to deepen our mutual understanding, expand cooperation, and carry out student exchanges and joint scientific research in more academic disciplines.”


During the meeting, professors from relevant colleges briefed the visiting delegation on their work regarding education, research, and disciplinary development.

 

The meeting was also attended by representatives from OUC’s Graduate School, Office for Science and Technology Administration, International Office, School of International Education, College of Information Science and Engineering, College of Physical and Environmental Oceanography as well as College of Fisheries.
