OUC Wins Honorable Mentions in the 2015 MCM/ICM

The Consortium for Mathematics and Its Application (COMAP) recently unveiled the results of the Mathematical Contest in Modeling and the Interdisciplinary Contest In Modeling (MCM/ICM), a famous contest attracting many college students from well-known institutions of higher education both at home and abroad. OUC students won 7 Honorable Mentions.


Founded in 1985, MCM/ICM is one of the most prestigious contests in mathematical modeling on the international stage, and each of the previous 31 contests has been very successful. The contest attracts students from famous universities around the world each year, including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Peking University, and Tsinghua University. The 2015 contest started from 9pm on Feb 6 to 9 pm on Feb 10. During the four-day contest, contestants need to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems which requires that every contestant should be competent in mathematics, computers, academic writing in English, and interpersonal skills through teamwork.


Eighty-six contestants in twenty-nine teams from OUC participated under the supervision of two faculty members, namely Cao Shengshan and Gao Xiang.
