Delegation from Curtin University Visits OUC

Prof. Li Huajun, vice president of the Ocean University of China (OUC), met with Prof. Majella Franzmann, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Humanities of Curtin University (CU) on April 16, 2015, at the Laoshan Campus.

Prof. Li Huajun gave an overview of OUC to the delegation and briefly reviewed cooperation between the two universities. He said that since the year of 2014, OUC and Curtin University have had frequent mutual visits and close cooperation, yielding favorable results. In recent years, OUC has witnessed a sustained development in the humanities and social sciences. Both sides can fully make use of their own strengths to deepen cooperation and exchange between the universities.

Prof. Majella Franzmann said that, thanks to the efforts of both universities, a solid foundation for cooperation between CU and OUC has been laid, and as a result, the Sino-Australian Joint Research Centre for Ocean Engineering was established in 2014.

“To broaden and deepen our cooperation, there are many things for us to do, including student exchanges, mutual visits of faculty members, and cultural communications,” Prof. Franzmann added.

During the meeting, deans of relevant schools of both institutions discussed possible areas of cooperation in education and research. Representatives from OUC’s International Office, School of International Education, College of Liberal Arts, Journalism and Communication, School of Law and Political Science, and Teaching Center for Fundamental Courses, as well as deans of Curtin University’s School of Media Culture and Creative Arts, School of Education, and School of Design were also present.
