The Ocean University of China and Wood Group Kenny, a world-famous ocean engineering consulting agency, signed an agreement for strategic cooperation and Flexcom software donation at the College of Engineering on April 3, 2015. The pact was signed by Prof. Li Huajun, the vice-president of OUC, and Prof. Shen Yijun, a tenured senior consultant of Wood Group Kenny. Under the terms of the agreement, Wood Group Kenny will donate Flexcom, a software package worth about 800,000 yuan, to the College of Engineering at OUC, and they will cooperate comprehensively in scientific research and education in the field of ocean engineering.
In a speech at the signing ceremony, Vice President Li offered his congratulations. He also expressed his appreciation to Wood Group Kenny for the donation, saying, as a world’s leading authority on ocean engineering with considerable experience in offshore projects, Wood Group Kenny is at the forefront of engineering design, project management, structural analysis, and operations integrity assessment. OUC has developed rapidly and dramatically in the fields of ocean engineering with a successful record in scientific research and education in recent years. He expected the faculty members and students to make good use of Flexcom and other conveniences offered by Wood Group Kenny to ultimately increase the level of academic research and make a positive contribution to OUC.
Prof. Shen Yijun gave an overview of Wood Group Kenny and Flexcom during his address. Wood Group Kenny is the largest designing and consulting company focusing on deep water structures, deep water extraction of oil natural gas, providing services such as research and development, design, analysis, consulting, and so on. Flexcom is a set of software specifically designed by Wood Group Kenny to carry out non-linear finite element simulation of the structure of ocean engineering and its powerful features allow it to model and simulate all systems of ocean engineering. He spoke highly of the development of subjects related to ocean engineering and hoped to conduct closer cooperation in such aspects as scientific research, academic exchanges, and professional training through the signing of a strategic and cooperative agreement.
