The application submitted by Ocean University of China (OUC) for the establishment of China-ASEAN Education and Training Center has recently been approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
OUC is among the second group of 19 colleges and universities that have been approved, including Jilin University, China Foreign Affairs University, Communication University of China and Xiamen University.
The China-ASEAN Marine Education and Training Center (CAMETC) housed by OUC offers Bachelors, Masters and doctoral programs in marine-related fields to students from the ASEAN countries and the “Maritime Silk Road” related countries. The CAMETC provides mid-term and short-term training programs as well for government officials, business executives and academic professionals.
The CAMETC will also host international conferences and symposiums on such topics as marine-related sciences, management, law as well as marine resources and environmental protection.
In addition, CAMETC will set up a database of marine professionals in the ASEAN countries.
As the first initiative since the establishment of the CAMETC, the Training Program for Asian Senior Managerial Personnel in Marine Management and Blue Economy has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was granted 500,000 yuan by a special fund for the regional cooperation in Asia in 2014.
This training program will be included in the series of activities for “China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year 2015”.
