Delegation from ANU Visits OUC

A delegation of four lead by Prof. Steven Roberts, Head of the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies & Applied Statistics (RSFAS) at the Australian National University (ANU), visited OUC to hold discussions on future cooperation possibilities between the two universities.

Dr. Sun Yegang, OUC’s Chairman of the university Council, met with the delegation. During the meeting, both sides shared an overview of each other’s institution and the progress made in international cooperation and exchange at the two universities. The two sides had an extensive discussion to seek the possibilities of joint educational programs in such academic fields as economy and management. Such issues as the establishment of Sino-Australian joint Educational Institution and student exchange programs were also discussed during the meeting.

Professors from the School of International Education, College of Management, and College of Economics, as well as administrators from the International Office were also present at the meeting.

ANU has over 12,500 domestic students, accounting for 75% and nearly 4,200 international students, accounting for 25%. The university also has about 10,000 undergraduate students, which represents 60% of its total number of student, and over 6,600 graduate students, taking up 40%. ANU is one of the 5 Australian universities providing complete professional courses on actuarial science. It is also the only university entitled by the Institute of Actuaries of Australia to award Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in actuarial science. In addition, ANU boasts the programs of finance for bachelors and masters accredited by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in the United States. In Australia, only 4 universities enjoy the accreditation of CFA for both undergraduate and graduate programs at the same time.
