OUC President YU Zhigang met with Mr. Peter Burkill, Chairman of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR), on October 25, 2014 at Huanghai Hotel to discuss issues of further cooperation in marine research as well as the development of academic disciplines and education during the International Academic Symposium on Marine Science and Technology.
President Yu extended a warm welcome to Chairman Peter Burkil as well as his gratitude for his support of the symposium.
“OUC has been keeping a productive cooperative relationship with SCOR, and at present, a lot of professors of OUC are playing an active role in the work teams of SCOR,” he said.
He hoped that SCOR could keep deepening the cooperative relationship with OUC and the two parties can make further efforts to educate top-notch marine scientists.
Chairman Peter Burkill said that he felt thankful for OUC to host this international symposium on marine science and technology, which promoted the communication among scholars and experts in marine-related fields.
He fully affirmed the achievements and contributions made by scholars and experts and alumni of OUC who have participated in the work of SCOR. Meanwhile, he invited OUC to participate in the general meeting to be held in December 2015 in India.
Prof. Li Huajun, Vice President of OUC, also attended this meeting.
