The 2nd OUC-UEA Symposium on Marine Sciences Held

A delegation of 10 led by Prof. Dong Shuanglin, vice president of Ocean University of China (OUC), visited the University of East Anglia (UEA) at its invitation to attend the OUC-UEA Symposium on Environmental and Marine Sciences from September 4th to 5th.

The two sides had result-oriented discussions concerning the launch of the OUC-UEA Strategic Alliance in Integrative Ocean Science and the possibilities to carry forward collaborations in scientific research. Eight experts from OUC and nine from UEA gave academic talks on such topics as “seasonal ocean anoxia”, “3D surface reconstruction of underwater objects based on photometric stereo and laser sectioning” and “atmospheric deposition”. Interaction was also held between the experts and the audience at the symposium.

The first symposium on environmental and marine sciences between OUC and UEA was held in March 2013. These academic activities have not only helped scientists from both sides understand each other’s research fields, but also signaled substantive cooperation that will take place soon.

Prof. David Richardson, Vice-chancellor of University of East Anglia, is expected to visit OUC in November this year.
