Prof. Li Huajun, Vice President of Ocean University of China (OUC) met Professor David Wood, deputy vice-chancellor for international, and Dr. Kamy Cheng, associate director of relationships & Strategy, office of the DVC International from Curtin University, on May 29, 2014 at the Laoshan campus.
Vice President Li, together with other OUC participants, including Dr. Mei Ning, professor with College of Engineering, and Prof. Fan Hongtao, head of Office for Promotion of Blue Economy, as well as representatives from the International Office, discussed issues concerning the framework agreement of the OUC-Curtin Joint Research Center for Ocean, Deep-sea and Marine-engineering with the visiting guests.
During the meeting Dr. Kamy Cheng introduced doctoral programs at Curtin University, saying that Curtin University welcomes OUC students to be sponsored by China Scholarship Council.
Accompanied by Director Fan Hongtao and Professor Mei Ning, the guests also visited to Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in the afternoon. Representatives of three parties discussed issues concerning the establishment of the Qingdao Joint Research (Incubation) Center for Marine Engineering and Technology and reached initial consensus on the framework agreement.
In March 2014, Prof. Brett Kirk, Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, visited OUC. The two sides co-organized the First Joint Symposium on Ocean, Deep-sea, Ocean Engineering and Technology.
