Prof. Wu Dexing, President of Ocean University of China (OUC) met with an Australian delegation led by Prof. Ian Young, vice-chancellor of Australian National University (ANU), at Laoshan Campus on April 13, 2014.
In his welcome speech, Prof. Wu said that Australian National University is a reputed university, with remarkable scientific and technological achievements as well as great academic strength.
“I am delighted to witness the sound development of the College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) of ANU,” he added.
Vice Chancellor Ian Young briefed Prof. Wu on the research focus of CAP, saying that the College of Asia and the Pacific has produced renowned scientists, statesmen as well as other excellent professionals.
“My visit here is to have a more comprehensive understanding of OUC, so as to promote an all-around exchange and cooperation in natural sciences, and arts and humanities,” said Prof. Ian Young.
Prof. Li Huajun, vice president of OUC, said that China’s ongoing effort to build the country into a maritime power provides OUC with a precious opportunity for further development.
“OUC is looking forward to joining hands with ANU in an effort to create a ‘maritime silk road’, and conducting cooperation in a deeper and wider manner,” he added.
The meeting was also attended by Roger Li, CEO of Australia Education Management Group (AEMG), Jenny Wang, Director General of AEMG, and the representatives from the OUC’s International Office.
